I open scalar 2 in FL Studio 20.7 or Cubase 10.5 and get string sound. If I click on the instrument select button, it just comes up as OFF and stays frozen that way.
I would check if Scaler’s sound banks got installed. Go to the little cog on the right → preferences → open folder with sounds (see screenshot).
I also wagely remember from one of 1000s youtube videos I watched before buying 
that someone had same problem after upgrade to Scaler 2.2 (overwriting old version) and had to wipe Scaler completely (vst and all those pesky config files) and install again.
