looking at buying Scaler but need to know- is there a way to have it trigger the chord progression internally or from a midi track while I play the melody (kept in key by Scaler)? I have no use of my left hand. Thanks, Tony

How about build the chord progression in Scaler, drag and drop it to an Instrument Track then record the melody on the same track with the DAW set for Midi Merge?

well, this is just how green keys work: Scaler play a series of chords automatically, and you play notes in key with it

Short answer - yes you can do this quite easily. Set a progression in Section C - Loop - and turn on Keys-Lock.
