Scaler 2 crashing Pro Tools 2024.6

@davide No error messages so far with 2.9.1. Have tried 64, 128 and 256 sample buffer sizes. All working smoothly. This is on an M2 Mac.

I’m still getting the same issues with this update. Constant -9093 errors on playback, on PT 2024.6.0, with an M1pro Macbook Pro

I’ve moved some seperate message threads into this thread. On our end everything seems resolved but I can see some of you are still having issues. Looks like there are many people having issues with PT2024.6 across a wide range of aax plugins. Maybe there are wider factors at play? https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p=2704642

Having the same issues as others PT 2024.6 OS14.5 on a Mac Studio. Scaler 2.9.0 spiking lots of cores and killing pro tools. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Scaler has big issues (hanging, crashing, error codes, CPU hits etc) on PT 2024.6 macOS 14.5 Mac Studio M2 Ultra at various buffers for me too. (Only just bought it as well )

Please may you DM me the 2.9.1 beta in the meantime, or expedite its release for all. AVID have a lot of work to resolve countless crippling bugs, but if this helps an isolated case of stability for now then that would be great.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum @mymatejackson @Sonasrec Have PMd you both a Beta, more and more given my link above it seems PT 2024.6 seems to be affecting a large range of plugins. Our devs have attempted a few things and still investigating. Always a fine line between spending too much time on something that is ultimately futile or out of your control v getting it fixed!

May I please have a 2.9.1 beta version too?

I’m having the same issue in PT 2024.6. CPU overloads and PT crashes as soon as I attempt playback with Scaler 2 as an insert on an instrument track. This is the only track in my session. Thanks

Hi Davide,

Can you send me the beta too? 2.9.1? I’m using a huge number of plugins with PT’s 2024.6 Mac Studio M1 ultra Ventura 13.6.8. No crashes with any other plugins. I’m able to run most things at 128 / 256 buffer but 2.9 Scaler needs 512 or I get CPU spikes.

Thanks!

I have the same problem with scaler 2.9.0 on pro tools. it is super laggy and sometimes will cause system hangs for up to 10 seconds. Any chance i can get a copy of the 2.9.1 beta? @davide Thanks!

2.9.1 is a significant improvement, its actually usable at this point. thank you guys very much. i have noticed a few pops and clicks periodically, but its nothing like it was.

Hi, new here and to Scaler 2. Same as reported here. Unusable in Pro Tools 2024.6, all other plugins working well. How do you gain access to the 2.9.1 Beta. Thanks in advance.

can i too please get the 2.9.1 beta? i’ve bought Scaler a couple hrs ago just to find this out

thanks

2024.6 M1 13.6.4

Hi @ambitur3 , @Steviebhoye , @hiimlarry I have PM’d you the 2.9.1 beta. These are new updated final gold masters that are being uploaded and available to all via Plugin Boutique now (accessible soon!) and address a wider range of issues and also significantly reduce the CPU hit at lower buffer sizes whilst addressing the PT and Reaper issues!
Thanks to all for your patience.

Hi Davide. Can I get a link to the 2.9.1 beta as well?
I’ve been testing an older beta on different DAWs lately and was about to mention the CPU issues.
Thanks.

Hi Davide.
The new beta is looking good! No CPU spikes and can even run at the lowest buffer setting (32 samples). Checked with built-in sounds as well as MIDI chain to another VI. Great work!

One new issue though, is that the plug-in is now installed in an unnecessary “AAX” subfolder inside the plug-ins folder (Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/AAX/). Although the plug-in still loads, it threw me off when I was trying to verify the installation.

I’m on Pro Tools 2024.6 on macOS 12.7.5 on a MacStudio M1.

Additionally checked Ableton Live 12.0.25, on which I was previously seeing “CPU” indicator immediately lighting up. No problems though, with the new beta!

I’m experiencing the same issue while demo-ing the product in my workflow.

Can I be sent the Beta version ?

Good Spot thanks will report.

performance is doing great virtually no problems via pro tools 2024.6.0, however I’ve noticed a few bugs in this build that should probably be addressed.

1.transposing in the edit does some strange stuff when adjusting the semitones. for example sometimes it will jump 3 semitones, not exactly sure why. i tried with and without having a scale detected. the problem persists. pretty sure it has something to do with unaccounted sharps.
2. When Voice grouping is enabled (and dynamic selected) C major does a B major chord and some other wonky stuff

I’m not seeing any of that. Have you tried resetting your machine after install? @Tristan Will check n 2024.6

Hi folks. I’m running Pro Tools 2024.6 on an M2 Mac Studio with Mac OS 14 here, and no issues with transposing or voice grouping as far as I can see. Transposing only ever works in semi-tones and dynamic voice grouping doesn’t appear to be doing anything wonky like changing C major to B major.

@hiimlarry if this is happening consistently for your I’m not sure what could be causing it. I would try a complete uninstall/reinstall and if it keeps happening could you post some videos so we can try to see what’s going wrong?
