Song Arrangement

Hi.

I’m hoping someone might be able to advise on the best way to achieve this:

Very new to Scaler and trying to get up to speed ASAP. I have watched the whole official course, but I’m not sure it covers this exactly.

I’m working on a song (pre existing chord structure) that doesn’t follow a standard structure - e.g. verse, chorus etc. Therefore, there are a lot of chords in the arrangement that don’t repeat, and I’m trying to work out the best way to manage this.

I have created patterns, but there are more chords than patterns, and the bigger issue is that playback doesn’t follow the patterns, unless I start from the beginning of the pattern.

I then mapped it out using midi key switches in my DAW with binding on the chords in section A. But I then can’t edit the chord in Scaler using the edit page (it only seems to allow chords in section C/patterns to be edited).

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way around this please?

Thank you.

Hi @Dashman

My approach to this would be to simply load each chord into a block in Section C then bind Section C to midi and use midi clips to trigger the blocks (see Using Midi Clips to Control Scaler). The length of each note in the midi clip will determine the duration of the chord.

So basically I would create a midi clip(s) that mirrors the arrangement of the song.

That’s great. Thanks for your help
