Hi @horsetags and welcome to the community. Looks like your issue may be learning how to set up Sidechain routing in Reaper, Scaler EQ treats sidechaining as per each DAWs routing requirements - nothing special there. Not sure what you mean by crashing but please ensure you have the latest version and if there are any issues something more specific can be helpful.
I know that Reaper is different from other daws in many ways, but i can get the sidechain working with a reaper eq, but cannot when i follow the same process with the Scaler EQ.
I can understand that it could be me somehow, but when i click to remove Scaler EQ from a track FX in Reaper, so that i can try again with a clean setup, Reaper has crashed, but not always(?).
I have got Scaler to work in another Daw, so it’s Reaper or me (probably me) so i will try again with Reaper after i have restarted the computer and maybe try and reinstall Reaper and not add any other scripts until i try with Scaler EQ again, although i am not sure why it would help, but you never know.
Just tried adding Scaler EQ to a track in Reaper and went to adjust a frequency and Reaper crashed, so i will definitley re install Reaper later today and see if that helps.
I have never know Reaper crash this much to be honest, so something’s awry.
Sorry, my bad again.
Ryzen 5, windows 10, 16mb ram
I have just totally uninstall Reaper and re installed it and added Scaler EQ to a track
I then moved a frequency, pressed the Dynamic button, and Reaper crashed
I reloaded Reaper and added Scaler EQ and did the same, and it crashed Reaper again.
This time, i cannot see that it is me, and instead of wasting more time with this, I am going to stop using Scaler EQ, sad and annoying, but i do not get as long as i would like on my music, so moving on
Hi @horsetags after some internal testing we’ve discovered there does appear to be an issue with Reaper with the VST3 version of Scaler EQ which is causing crashing when using the sidechain function.
In our testing, the VST2 version (which should also have been installed) is working just fine so I suggest for the moment you try just using the VST2 version. We are able to use sidechain routing in Reaper no problem with this version.
We’re not aware of any such issue with DAWs other than Reaper but will continue to investigate nontheless. Thanks for your insight and bringing this to our attention and we will hopefully have this addressed in an update soon.
