Trying to provide additional justification to provide (and be able to work with) ALL enharmonic spellings.
When you click SCALES>ALL NOTES the dropdown shows F#/Gb. But the program only allows you to see the the Gb Major chord sequence and drag its constituents to other software.
I am using various DAWs. I am trying to use Scaler 2 with NI Maschine. In their software they have a PAD MODE for their associated hardware, which allows me to play a sequence of chords by hitting individual pads which trigger an individual chord in the sequence. The chord names and pad arrangement are mirrored beautifully in color on the hardware’s built-in LCD panel.
Unfortunately, the NI Maschine developers have taken the opposite approach to the Scaler 2 engineers. NI Maschine only allows you to see the F# Major scale chords.
I contacted NI Native Instruments and they told me that “maybe the makers of that music theory software could implement something faster or better” (than they could).
Since I am struggling with music theory in general, it seems that if both computer software programs were flexible enough to work with both F#/Gb key chords interchangeably, it would help with incompatibility issues like this one. And reduce the frustration on the user end. In the age of computer AI, is it really that difficult to add another set of chords to an already enormous variety? Will another one break the bank?
In common with many apps the manual gives a basic description of Scaler functionality. There are more detailed descriptions of the functionalty in the videos on the School of Synthesis channel and in the on-line course.
There are also some tutorials in the Tutorials category on this forum including tutorials on the CHORD page and EDIT page. showing how to perform various activities such as modifying chords, finding chords on the CHORD page and creating performances on the EDIT page. There are also tutorials on using midi to trigger Scaler 2 patterns.
