I’m able to change the octave on the chords but I’m unable to change the octave on the melody patterns. I’ve tried going into settings under Bind Midi but when I try to lower the octave or semitones it doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ve tried changing the active bind key and sections and still no luck.
Hi @WigglyCake
Welcome to the forum. Just to confirm that what you are trying to do is transpose the melody up or down an octave. If this is correct you can do this on the EDIT page where you can transpose individual blocks or a whole pattern.
There is a tutorial on this: Transposing Patterns (aka Changing Key) for the PC and MAC versions. I am not sure if this is applicable to the iPad version as I don’t use it, but I assume that there is something equivalent on this version.
Hope this helps
Thanks for your response. The EDIT page seems to only transpose the chords down or up an octave not the actual keys/notes in the melody. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. If I select a melody pattern that plays along with the chords, I can transpose the chords but the melody will only play high notes or keys.
Hi @WigglyCake
Do you have Voice Grouping selected? I think Voice Grouping overrides the octave settings so try deselecting it.
Can you send a screenshot of the MAIN page of Scaler?
I don’t have any Voice Grouping selected. It’s on Dynamic by default. I tried to upload a screenshot but it didn’t work. It says that I can’t embed media files
I think this is the issue. If you click on the words Voice Grouping it should turn Voice Grouping off (clicking below the words turns it on and opens the drop down menu).
Alternatively open the Settings Menu by clicking on the gear wheel in the top right-hand corner
On the PLAYBACK tab
scroll down to VOICE GROUPING
and click on the little blue button to turn it off
This should solve the issue.
