Lock the keys for 49-key MIDI

Hello, i am using Scaler2 ver. 2. 9. 1.
I am also using Keystation 49 MK3 with 49 keys

I am a complete beginner so i might misunderstand something.

I want to change all my MIDI files so they play from C2 to C6, like on my Synthesia.

However when I am the Scaler2 interface, I don’t know how to lock the leftmost part of the keyboard up to C2, and the C6 is invisible and i don’t know how to reach it.

please please help (╥﹏╥)

I understood that i can see the C6 and other buttons if i click on the little < and > under the keyboard icon on the top left under the Scaler logo, so this question has been answered!

I never realized that!
Thanks for information

Another option could have been the Octave Down or Up buttons that the shorter keyboards usually have, like for example my Alesis Q49

The question is not solved ( ;´ - `;) how do i disable all the keys to the left of C2 and to the right of C6…

Well, I don’t think you can do that with Scaler, but you can do it with MIDI Polysher (useful for other things, also)

oh, thank you so much for your answer, this is very unfortunate, i wonder if i can refund the program as that’s all i intended to use it for.

will MIDI Polysher change my midi files in such a way that they can fit into a 49-key midi keyboard? :open_mouth:

And why?
Scaler is used to create chord progressions, and it works with any kind of keyboard
I started e.g. with a 32 keys and zero problems creating tons of vibes

In any case, the tool I linked lets you move the key-range up or down quickly, and you can also stop Scaler (or your hands) hitting certain keys so reducing the length of your keyboard

BTW, why “disabling” those keys?
If your keyboard don’t have those keys, they are disabled already
you cannot hit keys you don’t have

I wanted to lock all the keys i don’t have and then use the key-lock > scale notes to make it so that the midi files that have the notes outside of my keyboard could be changed to the midi files that have the closest possible sounding notes that i am able to play.

but it seems to be impossible, right?

Im a little confused, aren’t most of the notes you want to play between C2 and C6 only? Why do you want to access C6 and above? If that is the case can you just increase the octave on your Keystation? Or even on an external synth that Scaler controls? There would me many ways to alter the playable pitch/area.

Thank you so much for answering, i am probably also confused because i am a total beginner

The song that i want to play has notes both to the left of C2 and to the right of C6… When i rise my keyboard up an octave, i cannot play the low notes and vie versa. i guess i can try to raise it up and down very quickly inbetweener the notes, but it adds a degree of difficulty, so i hoped this program would help to solve it by creating a midi that i can play more easily

But it’s not what this program can do?

mmm, very confusing indeed

So you want to hit keys before C2 and keys after C6, and you want to do that at the same time?

Well, in this case, no app/program can do that because your 49-keys keyboard is too much short!

Unless, you find some MIDI tool that when you hit e.g. a C3 sends the signal to C2 etc., but I think it is a complex and cumbersome task for a beginner, and I don’t know if such a tool exist

I suggest you to buy another keyboard instead, also a cheap and little one, so that one keyboard will be dedicated to keys under C2 and the other keyboard will be dedicated to keys after C6
