I’ve been studying and playing music since the late 1960s, with a particular love for the popular songs of the 1920s through the 1960s, and their jazz variations. This is my first attempt at composing and producing in that style, using the Studio One DAW, Scaler 2, and the Synth V voice synthesizer, starring Eleanor Forte. Other essential VSTs were EZKeys, Band-in-a-Box, and Native Instruments’ Kontakt.
“The Dog Days of Summer” was inspired by the music of Dave Frishberg (with a nod to one of his greatest interpreters, Blossom Dearie). But an equally great inspiration was our new rescue pup, Riddick, who has allowed me to see the world in new ways on our 6:30am walks.
