Well, I think that arpeggiators like e.g. Bloom can make similar things, but I like Scaler more because:
Scaler is easier to set
Scaler is more versalite, being able to direct multiple devices, assisting in solos, etc.
Scaler stresses a PC almost nothing, nevertheless the number of instances
