What is the meaning of the parameter "Chords only" for performances?

Hi all,

I’m new to scaler and wonder, what is the meaning of the parameter “Chords only” for performance styles. Couldn’t find it in the manual or somewhere else.
Any hints?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @Rudi and welcome to the forum.

The Chords Only feature was implemented so that melodies could be played and improvised over the top of bound and triggered chords with performances assigned.

Let’s say you have created a chord progression in section C and you would like to bind that to your keyboard and assign a favorite performance. If you trigger these chords on your keyboard and then go to improvise melodies over the top with your right hand, without ‘chords only’ enabled the melody notes you play will also trigger the performance.
With it enabled it allows you to trigger your bound chords with the performance assigned in your left hand and play whatever melodies you would like in your right without the performances being triggered by those notes.

Hope that helps.

Hi @james, thanks for your welcome and response. Yes, makes sense for me and seems to be a great feature. Will check it out immediately.
